no occupation.

no cooperation.

no backing down.

Free NYC is a coalition of activists, grassroots organizers, unions, and community groups united in defense of our city against federal attacks. This administration has made it clear: the National Guard is coming to our streets. We will not be intimidated, and we will not back down.

core beliefs

This administration’s threat of federal occupation and descent on Los Angeles and Washington D.C. are the acts of an authoritarian regime.

These agents target Black, Brown, disabled, poor, and unhoused communities—harassing neighbors, demanding unnecessary documentation, and disappearing people off our streets. These are dangerous, unprecedented moves to consolidate control.

We reject the illegal deployment of the military in our city.

If troops are deployed on our streets, we will demand immediate removal and a full rejection of their presence by our city and state representatives. Check out our messaging guidance here.

We have an obligation to keep each other safe.

We come from different backgrounds and struggles, united in pursuit of safety and solidarity. This moment demands we set aside those differences in order to protect our communities. Together, we are building networks for rapid response, community care, and education that will endure in the fight against authoritarianism.

We uphold a commitment to nonviolence in all of our actions.

Participants should work to de-escalate any potential conflict. Free NYC does not condone property damage, physical violence, or the presence of weapons at any of our events.
