The Many Hands space in Chelsea will be opening soon, and we’re inviting community members and groups to come together to create banners for tabling and string flags to bring back to your neighborhoods. No prior art experience is required: come ready to plug into the assembly line, and make visuals for your neighbors. Wear clothes you can get paint on!

Art build shifts are scheduled in two-hour blocks, though participants are welcome to stay longer as space is available. As the workshop continues, we’ll offer a variety of art projects for neighborhood groups, friends, organizations, and anyone interested in making art that stands up to fascism.

NYC Singing Resistance

https://www.mobilize.us/handsoffnyc/event/907069/

Foley Square, 1pm-3pm on Saturday, February 28th

Join Singing Resistance NYC and Hands Off as we sing in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors and kin who experience violence at the hands of ICE and the federal government here in NYC.

We also act as part of a national day of action in solidarity with those fighting against family and child detention at facilities like the Dilley Detention Center in Texas.

Meet us at Foley Square where we’ll hold a vigil and then sing as we make our way over to Federal Plaza to bear witness at one of the hotspots of family separation in New York. Together, we’ll continue to resist authoritarianism and build a movement for liberation through song.

Resistance Lab: Presented by Brooklyn Resisters

https://www.mobilize.us/handsoffnyc/event/900227/

Our event, which we are calling Resistance Lab, is open to everyone! We would love it if you joined us, even if you’ve never joined before.  Come meet your neighbors, participate in some community building, and learn more about all the different ways you can fight back.

We will have music from our own Oscar Owens and dance courtesy of the Cynthia King dance company, a reading from Saul Austerlitz, and then an opportunity to fold zines, put together whistle kits, make craft projects, and more.

We have 2,000 whistles to give away, so you can also take some home with you to give out to your friends, neighbors, and colleagues.  I’ve tested the new whistles, and they are loud!

Please come, and bring the people in your life who have been telling you that they really want to do more, but don’t quite know how.

Supporters are invited to bring signs, to sing or play music, and to solemnly bear witness in solidarity. Together we will build and strengthen the vital community connections.
